Moist Chocolate Cake Recipe:
Ingredients:
For the Batter:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 cup boiling water
For the Moist Topping:
- 1 cup chopped semi-sweet chocolate
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease and flour a round cake pan, approximately 23 cm in diameter.
- Prepare the Batter:
- In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a stand mixer, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and mix.
- Incorporate the dry ingredients into the butter mixture alternately with the yogurt, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
- Mix well and finally add the boiling water, stirring until the batter is smooth.
- Bake the Cake:
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for approximately 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the Moist Topping:
- In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it begins to bubble around the edges.
- Pour the hot cream over the chopped semi-sweet chocolate and stir until you achieve a smooth ganache.
- Assembly:
- Place the cake on a serving plate.
- Pour the chocolate topping over the cake, spreading it evenly.
- Serve:
- Allow the topping to set slightly before cutting and serving. Optionally, decorate with chocolate shavings.
